Action Programme

A functional and stable protective forest is an absolute necessity in many regions of Austria. New challenges such as negative impacts on the forest due to climate change, a tense timber market situation or increased recreational activities in the forest which can have influences on wildlife habitat need strong solutions. The action programme brings together these often complex issues and broadly sets the path for protective forests for the coming years.

The action programme defines 10 flagship projects with 35 milestones.

In order to promote the maintenance and improvement of Austria's protective forests, goal-oriented guiding principles were compiled by experts within the framework of the Austrian Forest Dialogue. For a successful cooperation it is important to involve all stakeholders for a future-proof protective forest.
