The following is an overview of current and planned projects.
With the establishment of a Protective Forest Hub at the premises of the Austrian Forest Campus in Traunkirchen, a large number of different project is to be offered. The issue of protective forests is to be pushed in the framework of training programs, information as well as knowledge transfer.
Model catchment area "Rindbach"
The establishment of a model catchment area for science and research is another important milestone in the action programme "Forests protect us!". Located in close proximity to the Protective Forest Hub at Traunkirchen, the catchment area of the Rindbach in the municipality of Ebensee/Upper Austria was chosen for this purpose.
Recovery of the protective function
Due to storms, forest fires, avalanches or intensive harmful organisms, large-scale deforestation and tree losses are occurring more and more frequently. When such disturbances occur in protective forests, the protective function is greatly reduced or lost entirely. Rapid reforestation is particularly important here to prevent erosion, rockfall or other gravitational mass movements.
